Josephine Edmondson
Instructor
Jojie is a Seattle-based healer and yoga teacher trainer dedicated to the ever-evolving work of trauma-sensitive practices. She currently serves as the lead teacher and curriculum developer for the University of Washington's Yoga for Healing Program, a free 8-week series each quarter that supports trauma survivors.
Over the last eleven years, Jojie has taught yoga, meditation, and breathwork in a variety of settings including: prisons, juvenile detention centers, eating disorder treatment programs as well as universities, museums and community yoga studios.
Jojie is inspired by the power of each unique individual and their ability to access resiliency, empowerment, and wholeness through ancient practices like yoga, meditation, breathwork, reiki, and mindfulness. And while she has experienced the healing power of these practices, she has also witnessed the harm caused as much of the West has digested and transformed them into an exclusive commodity that feeds on perfectionism, lack of self-love, and the troubling regularity of teachers who abuse their power. In response, Jojie’s approach to healing is interpersonal, encouraging community care and a deep questioning of our individual impact in everyday moments. She truly believes every encounter is an opportunity to move the world forward, or back. Her teaching is poetic and free-spirited, but also trauma-informed and science-based. Some people might even say her classes are fun.

Reiki Healer Training - Level 1 & 2
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing developed in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui. Drawing from traditions such as Buddhism, Taoism, Shintoism, and traditional Japanese methods, Reiki teaches that “rei” means universal and “ki” means life force energy. This vital energy flows through all living beings and can be harnessed to restore balance and support healing.
In this training, Jo will guide participants through the foundations of Reiki with an approach that is both trauma-sensitive and deeply personal. Reiki involves the practitioner placing their hands on or near the recipient’s body to channel energy. The goal is relaxation, stress reduction, and supporting the body’s natural healing processes. When life force energy is blocked or disrupted, it can lead to imbalance. By channeling Reiki, practitioners help clear these blockages, restoring flow and vitality.
This training is for anyone curious about exploring themselves more deeply. You don’t need plans to become a Reiki practitioner - simply bring your curiosity and openness. If you do wish to share Reiki with clients, you’ll also gain the knowledge and tools to get started. Reiki is especially valuable for those who teach restorative yoga, guide breathwork, or work in therapeutic settings, offering a powerful complement to existing practices.
