Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Ahimsa Yoga & Pilates Studio?
Our studio was created for people who want to move, breathe, and feel better in their bodies without pressure, performance, or perfection.
We believe in:
Intelligent, accessible movement
Small, thoughtfully guided classes
Trauma-aware, nervous-system-friendly teaching
Community rooted in kindness and presence
Whether you’re brand new or deeply experienced, you’ll find yourself supported here, exactly as you are.
Where are you located?
Ahimsa Yoga & Pilates is located in Queen Anne, Seattle, WA, at 1629 Queen Anne Avenue N.
We’re a neighborhood studio, nestled into a quiet, welcoming space designed for grounding, ease, and connection.
Is the studio heated?
No, and intentionally so. Our studio is non-heated so you can move in a way that supports your nervous system, hydration, and long-term joint and muscle health. You’re always welcome to warm your body from the inside out, with breath, movement, and mindful pacing, rather than external heat.
Are there mats to borrow?
Yes, we provide mats, blocks, bolsters, blankets, straps, and other props at no extra cost. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer, but everything you need is here waiting for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation window is one hour before class. If you are using a class credit and cancel within that hour, or do not attend, the credit will be forfeited. While our members are never penalized, we kindly ask that this policy be honored whenever possible so we can support our teachers, manage class capacity with care, and ensure the studio runs smoothly for the whole community. We understand that life happens, and we always aim to meet unexpected situations with compassion.
What is a prop? How do I use them?
Props are tools that support your body. They can make poses more accessible, more comfortable, or more nourishing, depending on what you need that day. At Ahimsa, props are not a sign of being “new” or “limited.” They are a way of practicing with more intelligence and care. Your teacher will guide you in how to use them, and you’re always invited to use as many as you’d like.
Do you offer private sessions?
