Annie Cavanagh
Instructor
Annie Cavanagh has 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training and has been teaching yoga in Seattle since 2018. She recently completed her 300 hour training from Akhanda Yoga Institute in Rishikesh, India were she was immersed into the traditional path of yoga. Annie is also a Bhakti yogi, her classes are full of devotion. Annie also incorporates yogic and spiritual philosophies, as well as the transportative vibrations of mantra alongside the Indian instrument, the harmonium. Annie is also a Reiki master, and believes this Japanese energy healing modality has the ability to calm, sooth and reignite the flow of energy in our bodies. The commonality between her studies of both yoga and Reiki, is that they both unwind the unhelpful patterns in the body and mind, and both are tools to bring awareness to the bliss, love, and compassion that resides in all of us.
The style of yoga that Annie teaches is called Akhanda yoga. Akhanda yoga was developed in India by Dr. Yogrishi Vishviketu of the Adi Nath Shiva Yoga Lineage. Akhanda means complete, whole, impenetrable which aptly describes the wholist nature of this practice. This practice incorporates five elements that allows us to rest in the bliss of our True selves. In each practice you will experience a theme that aligns with yogic philosophy, mantra chanting, hatha style asana, pranayama practices, and ample time for meditation. This practice is designed to be a work in, to still the mind, to find the bliss that is your birthright.
